Dr Isabelle Hug

Dr Isabelle Hug has been a research associate in Prof Médéric Diard’s group at the University of Basel since 2019. She began her studies in biology at ETH Zürich and received a PhD in microbiology and biotechnology from the University of Alberta, Canada. During her doctoral research in Prof. Mario Feldman’s laboratory, she focused on investigating and engineering bacterial glycosylation systems. As a postdoctoral researcher under Prof Urs Jenal, she worked on elucidating the bacterial sense of touch. For this BRCCH project, she is working on modifying members of the human gut microbiome in situ with the goal of benefitting patients with metabolic deficiencies.
