Dr Laura Paone is Medical Doctor at Endocrinology Unit in Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital. She is specialized in thyroid diseases, metabolic diseases, pituitary diseases, adrenal diseases, bone metabolic diseases, andrology and pediatric endocrinology.
Her main focus areas in the field of paediatric endocrinology are auxology, thyroid diseases and metabolic diseases. She follows protocols about thyroid diseases, diabetes type 2 in children and adolescent while being proficient in ultrasonography of thyroid and neck, including performance of thyroid fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).
She received a grant to be a research fellow in July 2017 to follow project on GH deficiency in the paediatric age. She received a SIE-award in June 2013 as 1st place for a young investigator under 40 for a clinical project about congenital hypothyroidism titled: “ Phase IV study controlled to evaluate efficacy and absorption of levothyroxine liquid formulation VS levothyroxine tablets in the treatment of newborn with congenital hypothyroidism.” She was involved in a clinical project on congenital hypothyroidism, a clinical TRIAL on Diabetes type 2 in paediatric age, and a clinical TRIAL on GH long acting in paediatric age. Now she is involved in a TRIAC TRIAL MCT8 deficiency. From July to September 2014, she was a research fellow and did a clinical observation at Boston Children's Hospital, Department of Medicine- Division, Endocrinology Unit, Boston Massachussets, USA.
