ETH Zurich

Dr Marianne Schmid Daners graduated from ETH Zurich as a mechanical engineer in 2006  (Dipl. Masch.-Ing. ETH). Under the supervision of Prof Guzzella, she completed her doctorate at ETH Zurich’s Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control on the topic “Adaptive Shunts for Cerebrospinal Fluid Control” in 2012. Marianne heads the institute’s Biomedical Systems Group as a senior scientist. At the interdisciplinary interface of clinical research and engineering, the pathophysiologic understanding of the dynamics of the intracranial and cardiovascular system is her passion. Her research focuses on the modelling, control and testing of biological systems as well as on the development and control of biomedical devices for the treatment of heart failure and hydrocephalus. She is the leading member from the ETH Zurich side in the BRCCH-supported CoVent project organising committee and supervisor.
