Prof Elgar Fleisch is a Full Professor of Information and Technology Management in the Department of Management, Technology, and Economy (D-​MTEC) at ETH Zurich and the Director of the Institute of Technology Management (ITEM) at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). At both institutions, he heads a team of postdocs and doctoral students. His research is organized across three laboratories, which cover the disciplines of computer sciences, information systems, management and psychology.

For more than 20 years, Prof Fleisch’s research has focused on the current merging of the physical and digital worlds into an Internet of Things. With his transdisciplinary team, he aims to understand this fusion in the dimensions of technology, applications, business models and social implications and, based on this, to develop new technologies and applications for the benefit of the economy and society. All of his research projects are joint efforts between industry and academia, and their results have been published in more than 600 scientific journals and books in different disciplines.
