Prof Margaret Gyapong

Prof Margaret Gyapong joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, Ghana, where she is currently Director of the Institute of Health Research, in 2017. Prior to this, she was Deputy Director of Research and Development in the Ghana Health Service and Foundation Director of the Dodowa Health Research Centre. Prof Gyapong also holds professorial and adjunct professorial positions at the University of Health and Allied Sciences and Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA. She is interested in the socio-cultural aspects of tropical diseases, implementation research, maternal and child health and capacity building. She has a background in medical anthropology and cultural epidemiology, with a PhD from the University of Basel. She serves on several boards, task forces, steering committees and working groups for the World Health Organization, KEMRI/CDC Wellcome Trust, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and Sight Savers International, to mention only a few.
